Title: Reflection Positivity and Invertible Topological Phases

Abstract: In a recent joint paper with Dan Freed the classification of symmetry protected phases of fermionic systems is approached using the methods of cobordism and stable homotopy theory. This talk will survey this relationship and describe some of the classification results.
