Extensions of these bounds to matrix algebras offers the possibility to obtain similar bounds for the rate of convergence of quantum Markov semigroups. I will describe some progress in this direction based on non-commutative hypercontractive bounds and log Sobolev inequalities, and indicate some of the challenges which remain.</p>
