Title: Contractive Bounds for Quantum Markov Semigroups
Abstract: Contractive bounds for semigroups on commutative algebras provide estimates for mixing times of classical Markov chains. Extensions of these bounds to matrix algebras offers the possibility to obtain similar bounds for the rate of convergence of quantum Markov semigroups. I will describe some progress in this direction based on non-commutative hypercontractive bounds and log Sobolev inequalities, and indicate some of the challenges which remain.
