Title: ADE and all that, 30 years after
Abstract:  In the late 80’s, some unexpected occurrences of the well known ADE classification of simply laced Lie algebras and Dynkin diagrams were found in the two contexts of Conformal Field Theories and Integrable Lattice Models. Soon after, some generalizations involving new diagrams and possibly generalized root systems were introduced. In this talk, personal recollections will be given of the developments of that period and of the following decade.
