Title: Lie Algebras and Hall Algebras

Abstract: We outline a construction of (the universal enveloping algebra of) a Lie algebra from its Dynkin diagram. This construction is novel in that it does not come from representations of an oriented quiver, but rather is canonical. We emphasize the role of 2-Segal spaces in further progress.
